Part 6: Jab Dil Miley

A few days after they had taken the med exam, Riddhima and Anjali's dad, Shashank was to come back. They were both very excited to see their dad since lately he had been going to so many conferences as Sanjeevani hospital's chief directing doctor to secure funding, that they hardly got to see him. Ridz and Anji went to meet him at the airport.

AIRPORT
Rid&Anj - PAPA! (rush to hug Shashank)
Sha - Riddhima, Anjali! It's so good to see you both! Itnay dinon kay baad milay ho tum dono. Tum logon ka exam kaisa raha? How did you do?
Rid - I'm so happy aap vapes aagaye papa! Pata hai, hume aaj results bhi milnay vale hain. Its so exiciting! Aur apki conference kaisi rahin?
Anj - Papa! Aap hamare liye kiya kiya leke aye hain?
Sha - Riddhima, our conferences were successful betay, aur Anjali, aap dono ke liye dher saaray gifts leke aya hoon. Lekin abhi to humay airport se chalna chaiye. Chalein ghar, yeh puri luggage gifts say bharey hain.

When they get home, naani tells them that their results are here. They open them and discover that they both did great. They're ecstatic! Shashank tells them that they would be a great addition to Sanjeevni. They spend the rest of the day in this daze and catching up with their dad.

SANJEEVNI HOSPITAL
Rid - Di, looks like we're the first ones here.
Anj - Haan yaar, it looks like it. Lekin Ridz, at least is bahane se hume sab se clean lockers mil gaye.
Rid - Acha, di, vo...mujhe aap se kuch kehna hai, par...aap please zada ghussa mat hona.
Anj - Kya hua ridz?
Rid - vo...uss din medical exam ke din
Anj - Ya...tho...
Rid - Actually...

Before Ridz could finish talking about the whole accident that happened, they were interrupted. 2 new people walked in. (Atul = Atl) (Sapna = Sap)

Atl - Hi guys! Tum log bhi yahan naye interns ho?
Rid - (looks over..and thinks 'I guess I'll just tell di later, mujhe abhi iss sab ke baare mein nahi sochna chahiye, it's my first day at Sajeevni, time to start fresh') Hi, ya we're here for that too.
Atl - Oh! Great! Mera naam Atul hai (puts his hand forward to Anji. She just looks at him and instead of shaking his hand, opens her locker and starts organizing her things. Atul is kind of hurt about this.)
Rid - (thinks 'Di bhi na...' She gets up and goes to meet Atul)I'm Ridz, it's nice to meet you.(she says to Atul and shakes his hand.)
Sap - I'm Sapna. It's nice to meet you guys too. So I'm guessing Sanjeevni aap sab ki first choice thi?
Atl - Definitely, itna acha hospital, the top hospital. Lekin you know what guys, ab jab hum sub dost ho gaye hain and we're going to be spending the next years together, no aap janab. Done?
Rid - (laughs) Done!
Sap - Done! (laughs as well)
Anj - (butts in) Excuse me, hum abhi abhi milay hain, to itni jaldi dost kaise ban gaye? We're doctors here aur hamare beech main colleagues ka relation hi hona chahiye.
Rid - (whispers) Di! Aap ko kiya ho gaya hai?
Anj - Tum chup raho Ridzy! I'm going to the Duty Station. Tumhe aana hai to aajana.
Rid - Di...(That's not fair, she thought 'Di aisa kyun behave karti hai? Kitna bura laga hoga bichaare Atul and Sapna ko.') Guys vo...she's not feeling very well you know, vo tabiat thori...
Sap - Tum dono aik dusre ko jaante ho?
Rid - Ya, we're sisters
Sap - oh...
Atl - No problem yaar, chalta hai. Aaj nahi to kal ho jaye gi dosti. Don't worry about it. Mujhe lagta hai ke hum sab ko ek huge dose of laughter de pathke de jhatke ki zarurat hai!
Sap - Well said Atul. Chalo ab chalein guys varna we're going to be late.

They all lined up at the duty station. Dr. Keerti was their senior doctor.(Dr. Keerti = Kee) They were still talking when she came.

Kee - Aap sab yahan interns hain. Start acting like interns.
Rid,Sap,Atl,Anj - Sorry Doctor.
Right at that moment, a guy walks in. Muscular and very professional looking in the crisp lab coat. It's our Armaan. Some nurses briefly stop what they're doing and look at him. The interns look his way. Ridz thinks that he seems familiar
Rid - (thinks 'yeh to...oh my god, ye to armaan hai! Yeh yahan kaise?' Dr keerti turns around)
Kee - (Time is 12:00) To aap yahan park main mazay laine aye hain?
Arm - (thinks 'she looks like a senior doctor type') Jee nahin (he says seriously)
Kee - Aap aik minute late hain. Ek minute ki ehmiyat kia hoti hai, aap jaante bhi hain?
Arm - Yes maam, I mean doctor. Lekin..
Kee - Oh, to ab aap mujhe excuse bhi dengay?
Arm - No doctor, no excuses, lekin abhi to exactly 12:00 bajay hain.
Kee - (looks at her watch and then at the clock. The clock did say 12:00) Anyways, aap sab ko aaj duties deyay jayenge...
Arm - (heads towards all the interns to line up with them. He then sees that Riddhima is there too and goes to stand next to her. Out of the corner of her eye, Anjali is perplexed.)
Arm - (whispers to Riddhima) oye, tumne vaada kiya tha ke mujhe tum stalk nahin karogi.
Rid - (whipers) Shut up Armaan! Dr. Keerti sun leyngee.
Arm - Kyun? Darti ho?
Rid - Nahin! Lekin main apna pehla din shanti se guzarna chahti hoon (still whispering)
Kee - DR. RIDDHIMA! Aap ko koi problem hai? Ya aap khare khare thak gayeen hain? Hum aap ke liye ek comfortable si chair mangwade? Actually, aap sab ke liye laaday the hain aur iss hospital ko hospital ke instead, lounge bana de the hain? What do you think Dr. Riddhima?
Rid - (mega embarassed) No doctor Keerti. I'm so...so sorry.
Kee - Next time, I won't take sorries anymore so you all better behave. Dr. Riddhima general ward mein, Dr. Anjali, cancer ward, Dr. Atul, path lab, Dr. Sapna cancer ward as well and Dr. Armaan, general ward. Now disperse and to your wards immediately. (She then leaves)
Arm - Wow! Yeh to yaar, bilkul Sholay waale Gabbar ka female version hai.
Rid - Armaan please! vo sunlengi.
Atl - Actually you're right. Kiya pata kaan kitne lambay hain! (Armaan and Atul both laugh)
Arm - Man...champion! (high fives atul)
Sap - guys come on...
Anj - Ridzi, tum aik dusre ko jaantay ho?
Rid - Di vo...
Arm - Oh...to Riddhima tumne abhi tak nahin bataya? (jokingly)
Anj - Kiya nahin bataya Ridz?
Rid - Nothing di. Aap iss ki baat nahin suno, Yeh to yun hi...
Arm - (laughs) I'm Armaan. (holds out his hand)
Anj - Anji (shakes his hand)
Atl - (wonders why Anji acted so differently with him) I'm Atul yaar.
Arm - Cool. Nice to you meet you champ.
Sap - Sapna (shakes hand)
("ALL INTERNS REPORT TO THEIR WARDS")
Rid - Humay chalna chahiye.
Arm - After you...(holds out his hand and shows the path to the general ward.)
(They all head to their respective wards)
Arm - To tumne mujhe zaada miss tho nahin kiya
Rid - (ignoring Armaan and walking quickly)
Arm - Tumnay mere gham mein rat poison tho nahin khaliya? Aur iss liye tum bol nahin sakti. Riddhima, iss ki kya zarurat thi. Tum mujhe aik avaaz tho dethi, main bhaaga bhaaga ata. (comes in front of her. She tries to move to the left. He blocks her path. Same when she goes to the right, he blocks her path)
Arm - Kya hua? Tum vaaki main bolna bhool gayeen? No worries, ye hospital hai we can get you completely cured with speech therapy, aur doctor Armaan ke saath, you have nothing to fear!
Rid - Armaan please!
Arm - Ah! Bolti bhi hai...Riddhima, aisa kya ho gaya...
Rid - Forget it, tumhe nahin samaj ayegi.
Arm - Aray, batao na,
Rid - Armaan just go
Arm - that's a great idea Riddhima...except tum yeh bhool rahi ho ke meri aur tumhari duty saat hai. Riddhima...seriously. Kya hua?
Rid - Tumne mujhe itne trouble main daal diya....aur dr. keerti...
Arm - Bas? Itni si baat hai?
Rid - Tumhaare liye itni si baat hogi!
Arm - ok fine! fine babaI'm sorry...maaf kardo
Rid - Armaan abhi abhi maine tumse kiya kaha...seriousness...
Rid - (opens the door to the ward)
Arm - Acha suno, main kehrahata...(As soon as the doors open, all the nurses in the ward see them. The nurses in this ward being all females and our Armaan being the good-looking hunk he is, vo nurses Armaan pe toot pari)
N1 - Dr. Armaan, sir aap ko kitni nurses ki zarurat hai?
N2 - Dr. Armaan, main Neeta, I looove patients, you know...aap mujhe apni duty pe rakhlein please
N3 - Dr. Armaan, aap ko hospital kaisa laga, maine yeh phool apne haton se sajaaye hain!
Arm - Ladies...ladies...one....one secoond...I... (he's trying to squeeze past the nurses to catch up with Riddhima, but the nurses just won't let him go)
Rid - (keeps walking)
Arm - Aray...Riddhima...kahan jaa rahi ho...mera wait to karo
Rid - Main hamaray pehle patient ko dekhne jaarahi hoon...tumhe time milay to aajana.(she replies back, laughing at him)
Arm - But Riddhima...(sighs 'logon ki kiya ghalat timing hoti hai')

CANCER WARD
Anj - Dr. Sapna, hand me the chart
Sap - (hands her the chart)
Anj - (takes up all the space)
Sap - Anjali, main inkay vital signs leleti hoon
Anj - that won't be necessary Dr. Sapna, main khud ye kaam karsakti hoon
Sap - I'm sure ke tum karsakti ho, lekin ye hum dono ke patient hain tho...
Anj - Please...tumhe to khush hona chahiye ke main ye sab kam karrahi hoon...tum aaram se bet sakti ho...oulta tum mujh pe hi ghussa ho rahi ho?
Sap - nahin Anjali, main to bas itna kehrahi thi ke mujhe bhi practical experience chahiye, to patients ko treat hum dono ko karna chahiye...
Anj - EXCUSE ME! Maine medical exam pass kiya hai aur main yahan intern hoon, aur jald doctor bhi ban jaoungee, so I deserve to be called DOCTOR Anjali, not JUST Anjali, hum koi chaddi buddies nahin hain ke tum mujhe Anjali Anjali kaho, hum sirf aur sirf colleagues hain, so...
(the patient, hearing all this screaming from Anjali, his heartbeat starts rising. Anjali quickly grabs the electrocuters to give him a shock. Sapna stops her)
Sap - In ko shock ki zarurat nahin hai.
Anj - Kya matlab? Can't you see, iss patient ki heartbeat
Sap - Jaanti hoon, lekin positive shock tab dete hain jab heartbeat bohot low ho. He just needs to calm down (sits next to the patient) Uncle, aap fikr mat karein, sab thik ho jayega. Aap bas shant ho jayeeai. (then, she puts an oxygen mask on him)
(Hearing all the commotion, Dr. Keerti walks in)
Kee - Dr. Sapna, kya hua?
Sap - Ab sab thik hai Dr. Keerti, voh inki heartbeat bohot high ho gayee thi, iss liye maine inko oxygen administer kar diya jab thori kam huyee.
Anj - (still standing surprised at what just happened)
Kee - Good job Dr. Sapna. (looks at Anjali and sees that she has shockers/ electrocuting blocks in her hands) Dr. ANJALI. Aap in shockers ke saat kya karraheen thi? Aap ko kya nahin pata ke jab heartbeat tez ho, tho shockers istamal nahin kartay? Aap ko kya hogaya?
Anj - Dr. Keerti main tho...
Kee - Bas! Aaap apni excuses Dr. Shashank ke liye bachake rakhna. Abhi aap mere under hain and my advice is that for the rest of the day, Dr. Sapna will be handling the treatments aur aap charting karaingee. In your break hours, aap library se heartbeat and shock ke bare main parh kai, mujhe apne words main 5-page report likhain gi, so that you never do this mistake again.
Anj - Lekin Dr. Keerti...
Kee - Get to work. Understood?
Anj - Yes Dr. Keerti. (glares at Sapna)

PATH LAB
Atl - (mixing liquids in a testube and charting and singing)aray pappu can't dance sala...hmm hmmm..aray pappu nach nahin sakta
Arm - (Armaan runs inside the path lab and sees Atul, he closes the door)
Atl - (surprised) Aray Armaan, ye kya karraha hai bhai
Arm - SHhhhhhh!!! Vo sunlayngee
Atl - kaun?
Arm - Nurses...bahar sab nurses
Atl - KIYA??? Oun nurses ne tumhe dekha andar aate hue?
Arm - han
Atl - Aur mujhe bhi dekha?
Arm - haan
Atl - Aur ye bhi dekha ke tumne darvaaza band kardiya?
Arm - haan
Atl - (worried) Armaan...tu ne darvaaza kyun band kiya yar? Kaheen mujhe lekar ghalat eraday to nahin hain...niyat mein khot tho nahin aagayee?
Arm - KIYA? What nonsense! kya kahejaaraha hai yaar...I'm a straight man!
Atl - nahin main bas check karraha tha...aaj kal larke Dostana ko dekh kiya kiya nahin karnay lagay...you know..
Arm - Aisi koi baat nahin hai...lekin mujhe bacha le yaar...ye nurses peecha nahin chor rahin
Atl - Tu to mera dost hai yaar, aur dost ke liye jaan bhi qurbaan, ye to bohot chota sa kaam hai. Aa...idhar chup ja.
Arm - Thanks champ! (he hides)
Nurses open the door and ask for him.
Atl - Dr. Armaan yahan nahin hai, chalo sab kaam pe jaao, shabash
They all head back out.
Arm - Thanks champ, tu ne meri jaan bachalee...varna yeh nurses to mujhe kacha chabajateen!
Atl - Are nahin yaar...koi bhi problem ho...tu sida apnay iss bahi ke paas aana...
Arm - Wait a minute, wait a minute! Tum aik Bhai bhi ho?
Atl - Haan..tumhara bahi
Arm - Oh Acha acha...main samjha underground and all...2 second ke liye
Atl - that would be so cool yar...phir mujhpe movie banti...AtulBhai MBBS...kya mast idea hai yaar.
Arm - Ok, AtulBhai, thanks so much, aur aap ko ab main disturb nahin karounga, chalta hoon
Atl - Seeya dude!
Arm - Later champ!

Riddhima is in the general ward and just starts looking at the patient's chart. (Patient=P1)
Rid - Aap kaisi feel karrahi hain?
P1 - thora dizzy, chakkar aarahe hain
(Armaan walks in)
P1 - Oultiyaan bhi aarahin theen. Pata nahin kyun.
Arm - Aap ko kab se yeh conditions hain?
P1 - kuch dinon se...yehi 10 dinon se
Rid - oh ok. To main apko ek glucose drip laga deti hoon. Aap ko energy mileygi isse.
Arm - Good idea. It'll also help with the fever. Ab aap rest karein, even better, aap so jayen, aap ki body ko rest ki zarurat hai.
(Armaan brings Riddhima to the side)
Arm - Mujhe lagta hai yeh pregnancy ka case hai.
Rid - Kya?
Arm - I think...
Rid - Vaise you're right, chakkar, oultiyan, tez bukhar aur fatigue, mujhe bhi aisa lagta hai.
(As they flipped the pages and carefully studied the chart, they saw one thing that caught their eye)
Rid - Armaan, yeh dekho!
(They both stared at it)
